Stained Glass Vellum (Part 2)

I had so much fun with yesterdays tag I decided to make a new one.  This time I took a photo of the back of the tag.  Although you can tell it isn't fancy, it does have a nice clean look because I sandwiched the vellum instead of just gluing it behind the tag.

Also, instead of simply putting the ribbon though the tag I made a knot somewhat similar to that on a  tie so that I could make the front side of the ribbon face the front of the tag on both sides.

Stained Glass Vellum

The other day I was blog hopping and saw a post with an stained glass vellum accessory.  The link in the post that explains the technique didn't work, but decided to try this myself.

I stamped  vellum with stazon and then colored with markers.  I cut out a tag and then cut a square in it that my stamped image would fit inside.  Next I cut a rectangle slightly larger then my stamped image and cut a square out of the inside the size of my stamped image.

The result of all this work is a framed vellum square that isn't great for scrapbooking.  However, it is really cute.  I'm going to give it to my mom and can see it them ending up in her window.

This tag was so much fun to make I'm going to make a new one for tomorrows post.

Handmade Halloween Card

I love candy card

This is the last Halloween card that I'm making this year.  It's also my favorite card out of the ones I've been posting over the past few days.

I made this card for my nephew Tyler.  He loves candy and bugs, so this card fits him perfectly.

Handmade Halloween Card

I made this Halloween card for my nephew Ben.

Because the markers that I used on the stamps bled I used a silver scrapbook pencil to cover that up.  The blue paper that I used for the card got red ink in it when I was spritzing a past project, but I think it works.

Handmade Halloween Card

I made this Halloween card for my Niece Bella.  However, Susy actually stamped and colored the witch.

She saw the witch I made for my sisters card in yesterdays post and wanted to color one of her own.  I cut off the witches hair and arms when cutting out the stamp.  Then after gluing her to the card I simply drew them with a ink pen.

My markers bled when coloring the lettering on the Halloween stamp.  I used scrapbook colored pencils to cover where the markers had bled outside the lines and then fussy cut the title out.

I drew in the word Happy matching the font from the stamp using an ink pen.

Handmade Halloween Card for My Sister

Girly Halloween Card

I made this card to give my sister for Halloween.  The three costumed kids on the inside of the card are for her three kids.  I drew folds in the fabric for the ghost costumes that don't really show up in the photos.

I'm also going to make a card for each of her three kids.  I'm sure it will be a fun project being I have 0 Halloween scrapbook papers, stamps, stickers or accessories in my personal stash.

Susy has a limited supply of Halloween stamps that I'm going to use.  I'm sure that is going to result in lets call them themed cards :).

Seuss Landing Scrapbook Layout

I really like this layout that Susy made of the Seuss Landing entrance at Universal Studios Orlando.

We have limited Dr Seuss scrapbook paper and several Dr Seuss Layouts to make.  I think she has done a great job stretching The Dr Seuss paper we do have so that she could use it on multiple layouts.   The Cat in the hat accessory over the top photo was fussy cut out of a scrapbook paper.

Our camera does not do well with shiny items but the blue background paper is very shiny, the word hat on the cat in the hat paper is shiny, and the cat in the hat has a shiny hat.

Nontraditional Christmas Tag

I was looking around blogs the other day and saw a few Christmas Cards that people are already making.  They were all so cute I had to make something Christmas related of my own.

Christmas Tag

Susy didn't like my tag.  She didn't understand why I would pick ribbon with flowers that she discribbed is "Springy".  I guess I'm not traditional when it comes to design.

I'm not sure what I will use this tag on.  It may go a Christmas present for my Mom or sister or it may end up part of a card.  Either way I like it a lot and thats what matters in the end.

Owl Happy Birthday Card

owl birthday card
I made this card to give my sister for her birthday.  She loves owls and her family so I thought what could be a better birthday card than a family of owls.

The owl on the branch is for my mom who lives next door to my sister and helps her a lot with the kids and such.

The two larger owls are for my sister and her husband.  The three smaller ones are for their kids.  I don't have a lot of marker colors so all the owls are pink, but I gave the boys blue eyes.

The stamped happy birthday title was mounted on cardstock and has pop dots under it.  The balloons are actually Chinese lantern stamps that I turned upside down.  I used an ink pin to draw their strings.

For the background image I used black Tim Holtz Distress Ink to create a spotlight effect and so that the owls would be against a darker background and pop off the page more.

On the inside of the card I cut out the flowers from a  different piece of paper and glued them to the paper.  The letter side uses the same paper found on the cards cover sans ink.  I did this to tie the theme on the front to the inside although I'm not sure it worked.  It also has a title that reads a little birdie told me.

I hope you like the card.  I always enjoy looking at all yours.

Owl Stamping Project

I recently got some new Spectrum Nor markers.  They have been dying to try them out for over a week, but have never had the time.

I looked at our stamps and found these cute owls.  My sister is a huge fan of owls and her birthday is coming up in a little over a month so I decided to use the owl stamps and make a card out of them when I was done.  I'll have the card in tomorrows post.

I picked out a owl each for my mom (who lives next door to them), my sister, her husband, and their 3 kids.  It was a lot of fun coloring them.  Although it is a little difficult making a owl for my sisters husband and her two sons when the only colors I have are pinks, a red, and a blue.  In the end I decided to give the boy owls blue eyes.

You may also notice in some of the close ups that the Spectum Nor makers bleed a little bit.  Actually they bleed so badly that even though I was very careful and sometimes only touched the marker to the paper for half a sec and then picking it up I had to toss the first owl I made for my sisters husband because it was well UGLY.

Copic vs Spectrum Noir

I'm by no means a pro with alcohol markers, but I do enjoy using them.

Several weeks back I got my very first Copic marker.  I wanted to get more markers and decided to try a pack of Spectrum Nor.

Here is why Spectrum Nor are worse then Copics

1) When using them on thin paper they bleed more then Copics.
2) The caps are much harder to put back on then Copics.
3) You can't buy just one.  They are sold in packs.

Here is why Copics are worse then Spectrum Nor

1) The markers are smaller and likely hold less ink.
2) They cost more.

I found both makers blended well with each other.

My personal conclusion is Copic markers are a much higher quality product, that comes at a much higher price.

Which brand will I buy next time I need markers?

I really don't know it depends on how cheap I'm feeling that day.

In tomorrows post I will have some stamped images that I made using both brands.  The blue is my copic and the the pinks and reds are my Spectrum Nor

I hope this review helps someone choice the right marker for them.

Have a great day and happy scrapbooking.

Susy made this layout of our trip to Universal Orlando.  It was a rainy day, but we had a lot of fun.

The layout has a many shiny things that don't photograph well for some reason.  I really like the stickers and accessories that she put on green paper.

I'm very happy that I once again have the time to blog and I'm already looking forward to tomorrows posting.

Everything 4 Scrapbooking now has Lily Bee

We are pleased to announce that we now have Lily Bee Design scrapbook paper.

These are very cute quality papers.  When I weighed them they came in at 0.6 ounces each.  That isn't the heaviest scrapbook paper on the market, but it is a quality paper that has the same weight is many other great brands.

Click to see our LilyBee Supplies
Lily Bee had so many cute items for sale that we got more inventory then we had room for.  I've combined a few very similar past products into one item to make make room on the shelves (if you find one of these products there is a drop down box to pick which one you want).  However, that did not make enough room so I also had to combine a few of our new Lily Bee items into package deals with extra savings.

This Lily Bee secret coupon for blog readers and newsletter subscribers can be used starting today.  It will not be published at the store until next month.

A few things have changed about the store while I've been away from the blog.  It's still a bit messy because the company that host our location is has not finished working on the update.  The biggest current improvement that you will notice is a new checkout experience and the ability to check your coupon discount total from your cart.  No longer do you have to enter the checkout process to see your savings.

I made this card for my moms birthday.

I was surfing the scrapbook blogs the other day and came across a beautiful card from Lu-Baba  I loved her card so much I had to make my own version of it.

I used several techniques for the first time on this card.  Most aren't that interesting.  However, I do really like the white lacy

paper around the center flower.  I'm going to make a tutorial explaining how I made that in tomorrows post.

Click Coupon to visit our travel papers
I'm sorry that I've been away from the blog lately.  I've been super busy making the store even better.  Next time you visit I'm sure sure you will notice the pictures look a lot better.

Also I have been working hard to get some new items for the store.  We made an order from Lily Bee Design  that I'm very excited about.  There will be several new super cute papers at our store very soon at prices so low that it might shock you.  However, It's going to be a few weeks.  Lily Bee is having a bit of trouble shipping the items, but promised to get them in the mail by this coming Monday.  When they do arrive I'll put them in the store ASAP and give all my loyal readers a heads up.

I want to end this post with a quote that I had wanted to put on this coupon, but graphically didn't work.

"Travel becomes a strategy for accumulating photographs." Susan Sontag
